- 3rd Edition of Erasmus+ Staff Week
The third edition of Erasmus+ International Staff Week gathered more than 30 representatives of higher education institutions from 15 countries around the world. The international guests visited AGH University of Krakow within the framework of the Erasmus+ mobility programme for higher education students and staff.
The event was inaugurated on Monday by the Vice-Rector for Cooperation, Prof. Rafał Wiśniowski. A presentation on the potential of the city of Krakow in terms of international cooperation was given by Mr. Wojciech Łaptaś, Deputy Director of the Department of Entrepreneurship and Innovation of the Cracow City Hall. The guests then met at a gala dinner at the Manggha Museum of Japanese Art and Technology, where an award was presented to Prof. Tadeusz Pająk, Erasmus+ Coordinator at AGH University. The internationalization laurel was awarded to Prof. Pajak for his long-standing contribution to the development of international cooperation at AGH, including the Erasmus+ programme, which has been successfully implemented at our University for 25 years. It is worth mentioning that Prof. Tadeusz Pajak has served as Coordinator for 18 years.
On Tuesday, teaching staff conducted classes at AGH University faculties according to pre-determined curricula, while administration representatives conducted training sessions at pre-determined AGH units. Staff Week participants also had the opportunity to visit the laboratories of the Faculty of Drilling, Oil and Gas and the International Centre of Electron Microscopy for Materials Science at AGH University.
On Wednesday, representatives of partner universities and institutions and associations involved in supporting and developing international mobility programs such as the Erasmus+ Student Network, Erasmus+ InnHUB, Campus France, or DAAD presented their educational offer during the Erasmus+ Partner Day.
The event was top-rated among AGH University students and employees wishing to learn more about the exhibitors’ educational offerings. At the same time, sessions and panel discussions were held on the possibilities for AGH students and employees to participate in the Erasmus+ programme and other scholarship projects. Representatives of partner universities gave presentations on the educational offer of their institutions.
In addition to the activities, the participants of the Erasmus+ International Staff Week also had the opportunity to expand their knowledge of higher education capacity-building projects in partner countries thanks to the training of an expert from the KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Mr. Mirko Varano, or to improve their language skills during the „Writing for Publication” workshop conducted by the Director of the Department Foreign Languages, Ms. Anna Krukiewicz-Gacek.
On the last day, the international guests took part in a field trip to the Wieliczka Salt Mine and received certificates of participation in the Erasmus+ International Staff Week.
The event was organized by the Centre for International Affairs, with honorary patronage of the event taken by the Marshal of the Malopolska Region Mr. Witold Kozlowski and the Foundation for the Development of the Education System (FRSE), while the Mayor of the City of Krakow Mr. Jacek Majchrowski supported the event with the Partnership of the City of Krakow. Media patronage of the event was provided by the Krakow Student Photo Agency (KSAF).
We would like to thank all participants for their participation and invite them to future events organized by CIA AGH.
