Georgian Technical University
Georgian Technical University (GTU) is one of the biggest educational and scientific institutions in the South Caucasian region. It was founded in 1922. It’s a leading engineering higher educational institution and a powerful scientific center. GTU now offers 172 educational programs throughout all three levels of university study through its 14 faculties, including 74 bachelor’s, 60 master’s, 37 PhD, and 1 degree for Georgian language training. 151 of the programs mentioned are accredited (including 14 programs in English and 11 – in Russian languages), covering such fields as Engineering, Technology, Agriculture, Humanities, Law, Business, Social Sciences, etc.
GTU is a full member of various international networks, including EUA; ITU, BSU; OBREAL, and AUF. Additionally, the university collaborates with 136 local and 177 international institutions that are among the world’s top research universities. GTU maintains productive scientific collaboration relationships with eminent international institutions of higher learning and research, such as KEK (Japan), Jülich Research Center of Germany, CERN (Switzerland), Italian Institute of Nuclear Physics INFN, and US Farm National Accelerator Laboratory (FERMILAB).
GTU educational-scientific activities are funded by local and international scientific organizations and funds, including TEMPUS (13 projects), Erasmus Mundus (5 projects), FP7 (8 projects), Erasmus+ KA1 (88 projects), Erasmus+ KA2 (9 projects), and Jean Monnet (1 project). GTU owns 1,800,000 books, 43,248 e-books, 500,000 scientific journals, 15 research institutes, and 12 laboratories. 73 national patents, 11 international patents received in the last 5 years.
